Uncovering The Defects In The Theory Of Evolution
The digital listing for X-Men: The New Mutants is updated, as the mystery over the release plans for the movie continues. There was speculation that Disney may choose to release the film on Disney+ (an unlikely move given the current deal between the Disney-owned Fox and HBO), but it's now come to light that The New Mutants will be heading straight to Video On Demand platforms.
The film is set to feature a new roster of super-powered teens, including Magik, Wolfsbane, Dani Moonstar, Cannonball, Sunspot, and Rosario Dawson (Marvel's Daredevil) will play a mentor figure to the group. The long-awaited Marvel X-Men movie, The New Mutants, is once again without a release date, but it has a runtime, and it's shorter than expected.
I'd certainly say 2000's X-Men is partially responsible for kicking off the modern comic book movie. The New Mutants was filmed in 2017, and originally was set to open April 13, 2018, before being pushed back 10 months to Feb. There were rumors back in April of last year that the film might go to Hulu instead of getting a theatrical release.
They changed their The New Mutants new release date and trailer mind when Boone presented an updated cut of the film, which met with Disney's approval. The film was supposed to get released April 3, 2020 but was taken off Disney's release schedule due to the coronavirus closing down movie theaters worldwide.
I could keep writing a million more but these are a few of the reasons why I think everyone SHOULD be excited to still watch New Mutants when it opens in theaters on April 3, 2020. Filmmaker Boone has vacillated in interviews over the years about whether or not Demon Bear will actually appear in The New Mutants, but the character is listed among the cast.
